About Transmission and Distribution
Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.
This position will be responsible for supporting & processing complex technical Utility and Non- Utility work requests associated with Telecommunication facilities & existing infrastructure throughout the Southern California Edison Territory. These requests are for preliminary Estimates, Design and Facility Lookups, Relinquishments, Joint Pole requests, Substation projects, Interconnection projects, all driven by I.T, Substation Engineering, Transmission, Distribution and related third party customers.
Typical Responsibilities May Include:
Preparing cost estimates.
Responsible for the engineering and design in relation to Telecomm Facilities.
Creating and issuing construction packages to the system for construction.
Handle the permitting inclusive of Environmental, Traffic Control/ Pedestrian Control, Encroachment, Street use, Excavation, Railroad, Flood Control, etc.
Coordinate construction activities with municipalities, internal clients, CHP, Caltrans, BLM, National Forest and all associated stakeholders ( i.e. TYCC OCC including Caiso and ISO).
Lead and monitor to follow up on construction activities and outages inclusive of standards and safe work practices related to overhead and underground construction safety.
Coordinating activities with other internal personnel and/or organizations to ensure compliance and appropriate follow-through of policies, procedures, rules, rates, and completion dates applicable to his/her assigned projects.
Managing work orders through the entire process and taking accountability for customer satisfaction; maintaining a current understanding of industry practices, standards and customer needs.
Acquiring permits and easements, identifying environmental requirements and coordinating required project components with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and various external sources.
Managing numerous less complex design projects from inception to construction completion.
Develops estimates and prepares work orders or construction plans on major projects and several smaller projects.
Determines the scope of work, method of service, and construction methods for overhead and underground facilities.
Provides coordination and planning of major projects with other departments and/or outside organizations in order to establish and meet scheduled operating dates.
Maintains records and data as required.
Provides information and data regarding future growth and budgetary planning.
Evaluates operational emergencies and dispatches crews and resources to restore service as needed.
May provide functional direction to crews and contractors.
Support system emergencies as they arise.
Performing other duties and responsibilities as required.
Maintaining a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Must have a minimum of five years’ experience in engineering, designing, planning, or construction in electrical utility Distribution, Transmission, or Transmission Telecom.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Demonstrated experience working with the following: joint pole and pole loading processes, construction standards, Transmission Telecom design standards, G.O.95 and 128 standards and G.O. 165 standards.
Demonstrated experience with DM, SAP, AutoCAD/AUD, cGIS, SPIDA or related design systems.
Demonstrated experience determining the scope of work, method of service, and construction methods for overhead and underground facilities.
Experienced with developing estimates and preparing work orders or construction plans on major or smaller projects.
Experienced with acquiring required permits, identifying environmental requirements and coordinating required project components with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and various external sources.
Has experience managing several projects concurrently, adjusting to shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
Has experience working with customers, identifying needs and resolving customer issues.
Experienced with accounting principles to complete work orders.
Has experience supporting the daily activities of planners.
Has experience completing multiple projects and adjusting to changing priorities.
Experienced with interfacing and collaborating with peers, management and other departments.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a safety conscious work environment.
Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field.
Experience with resource books such as DDS, UGS, ERS, OH & UG Construction Manuals, TOH, TDR, TUG and TOM.
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Position will require 30% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
