Become a Key Accounts Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be part of the Key and National Accounts team of the Commercial and Industrial segment in BCD, dedicated to serving the residential and non-residential developers. You will act as the trusted energy advisor to our politically sensitive and quickly growing residential and non-residential developers, collaborating as a liaison between the developers and our New Development Planning team, and Local Planning.

You will play a pivotal role in advocating our Pathway to 2045 plan to the Developer industry via the promotion of Energy Efficiency, Building Electrification, and Transportation Electrification. Your primary function in this role is to engage with the developers while collaborating with T&D and CP&S in support of these customers receiving power in a timely manner and selling SCE programs with a customer centric approach. This is performed by resolving issues both internally and externally, often of a contentious nature, while preserving constructive relationships and finding opportunities to promote SCE programs.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Manage SCE’s most politically sensitive and sophisticated developers that require significant customer care engagement and successful handling to avert potentially significant impacts to the company or rate base due to regulatory and legislative proceedings, and/or policies.

  • Build collaborative relationships with SCE’s Local Planning Districts, Operations, and New Development Planning to better understand Design/Planning issues and represent SCE’s interest by accomplishing buy in agreement and understanding with Developers.

  • Build collaborative relationships with Developers building in SCE’s territory to better understand roadblocks to their success, educate and set proper expectations based on SCE’s governed Rules and act as their liaison to SCE accomplishing win-win resolutions by proposing changes in internal policies or procedures.

  • Build collaborative relationships with the Building Industry Association (BIA) to gain industry knowledge and create strategic partnerships to support the Developers and SCE interest by educating SCE procedures and promoting Energy Efficiency, Transportation Electrification, and Building Electrification, creating Win-Win solutions.

  • Build collaborative relationships with SCE’s Customer Programs & Services team in the development and promotion of SCE’s Clean Power & Electrification Pathway vision, DER programs, and the growth of Zero Net Energy in the new development space.

  • Support SCE’s Fire Mitigation plan by educating customers of the plan and preparing them for necessary unavoidable maintenance outages and PSPS events.

  • Prepare an annual plan consistent with the BCD business plan and strategic intent of SCE.

  • Continuously monitor and assess the competitive environment in order to effectively navigate market dynamics and maintain effective customer business plans for key customers.

  • Provide functional direction and direct work of a project team involving company personnel to address customer/company issues.

  • Educate senior officers and executives on sector-specific issues, opportunities, trends, and developments.


The essentials

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.

  • Ten or more years of experience in sales or account management.

The preferred

  • Master’s degree.

  • More than 5 years’ experience in the energy industry.

  • More than 5 years’ experience in utility Design Planning.

  • More than 5 years’ experience in working as a Residential or Non-Residential Developer.

  • Thorough knowledge and experience in financial/economic analysis, pricing, and sales. Thorough knowledge of electrical theory, energy systems, energy efficiency, demand response, transmission, interconnection, and environmental technologies.

  • Thorough knowledge and experience with key energy industry issues such as utility rates, regulated utility processes, and the rules and regulations governing the energy industry.

  • Experience delivering industry and rate information to sophisticated audiences.

  • Project management experience.

  • BEP / CEM / PE
