Become a Charge Ready Senior Project Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will work in the Charge Ready Project Management (CRPM) group within our New Development Planning group in Transmission & Distribution and will be responsible for leading projects through design construction for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle customers requesting service throughout the SCE territory. As the Electric Vehicle (EV) market continues to grow, light, medium, and heavy-duty EV customers continue to increase their footprint requesting new services or expansion of their existing services, and require customer focus and support of their projects.

Transportation Electrification (TE) is a critical strategic initiative for Southern California Edison (SCE) and we are taking a leading role to ensure that TE plays a major part in the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria pollutant emissions in California. The transportation sector is one of the largest consumers of energy, second to electric power generation, with the majority of energy consumed coming from petroleum.

Electrifying the transportation sector and reducing petroleum usage is critical to realizing California’s ambitious climate and air quality goals. In addition to cleaning and modernizing the grid, SCE is offering tariffs to support charger availability, make electric fueling more affordable and increase awareness of the benefits of electric transportation.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Collaborate with cross-functional Charge Ready Project Management team members and multiple Organizational units including eMobility, Customer Engagement Division, New Development Planning Hubs, Customer Programs & Services, Transportation Electrification Organization, Regulatory Affairs, Distribution System Planning, Law and external Interconnection stakeholders including customer-participants.

  • Serve as liaison and subject matter expert on technical aspects of Transportation Electrification projects and electrical distribution design and construction.

  • Act as a lead for TEPM supporting the growth and development of the Charge Ready Project Management team members, improving existing processes and mentoring staff. Provide feedback to Senior Management on people and process improvements as needed.

  • Provide Planning & Design Support by partnering with NDP Special Projects to align on project expectations and commitments.

  • Strategic Initiative Management and Resource Planning Interact with regional management to ensure regional teams are completing work according to schedule. Resolve issues between operating groups regarding TEPM construction teams. Discuss resource requirements with Distribution management and provide forecasted resource staffing requirements.

  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, engineering, communications, resources, cost analysis, change, risks, and issues.

  • Develop and deliver forecasting, progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project team, sponsors, and key stakeholders.

  • Deliver appropriate and effective senior leadership and executive level communication.

  • Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques.

The essentials\:

  • Ten or more years of combined experience in project management, strategy, or program development.

  • Two or more years presenting complex analyses and recommendations.

The preferred\:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field.

  • Project Management Certificate/Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • Experience with distribution design and construction

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations on programs/projects to leadership.

  • Passion to learn new subject matter and gather information to advise on strategy.

  • Experience on a new and rapidly growing and diverse team.

  • Experience in vendor procurement and contracts.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is remote. Employee is able to work primarily at home or remote however, the employee may be expected to come to an SCE facility on occasion.
