About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

The Geospatial Data Integrity Specialist 2 is an integral part of the Geospatial Analysis Data Integrity group. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of project management and technical tasks associated with data integrity and will Interface with internal and external clients.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the management, development, and implementation of applications supporting data integrity.

  • Responsible for supporting the management, development, and implementation of tools supporting tracking and reporting for data integrity.

  • Identifies financial or operational impact to business unit or company on daily activities that have moderate to significant business unit wide impact. Ensures scheduled activities are completed on schedule and within budget.

  • Perform Project Management tasks such as Scope of Work, Scheduling, Maintenance, Quality Control, Tracking and Reporting.

  • Perform a wide variety of Data Integrity tasks such as: Data capturing, both geospatial and attribute based, Data validations and comparisons across multiple databases.

  • Perform Training including in person and online, and developing and maintaining documentation.

  • Responsible for performing routine and repetitive analysis and develops recommendations which address customer and/or Company problems/issues that require intermediate to advanced technical knowledge to resolve.

  • Interacting with peers, management and other internal departments to ensure timely and accurate information is communicated to respective groups to ensure data integrity.

  • Utilizing various reference tools and materials to accurately maintain data integrity for SCE’s electrical assets.

  • Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience performing project management functions such as investigating and resolving problems, coordinating and communicating key project decisions and deliverables.

  • Three or more years of experience working in the Engineering or Technology field creating and analyzing engineering drawings, maps or mapping reference materials.

  • Three or more years of experience working with Mapping Applications such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map3D, Microstation, ESRI Viewers, ArcGIS, Google Earth when creating and referencing data, both geospatial and attribute.

  • Experience working with multiple databases, conducting research, complex analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations across the enterprise to support geospatial and attribute data integrity.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience using business applications to create and edit complex reports, graphs, and presentations.

  • Experience converting data from one format to another, generating ad hoc reports from business applications / databases.

  • Knowledge and or experience with electrical theory.

  • Ability to utilize new relevant technology and innovation to improve work performance.

  • Experience in Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science with an emphasis in GIS, or other specialized field.

  • Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel performing advanced functions such as VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing

  • Experience in Geodatabase Design, cartographic standards and usage of peripherals such as plotters, digitizers, and scanners.

  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and ArcSDE.

  • Leadership experience with the ability to work independently and perform responsibilities as assigned.

  • Experience performing technical writer functions, mapping out process flows and documentation.

  • Experience coordinating Process Flow Improvements, including identification, proposition and implementation of improvements.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
