About Energy Contract Management
Energy Procurement & Management (EP&M) ensures that our customers have enough electricity to meet their needs, through the output of SCE-owned generation plants and purchase of electricity from independent generators. We engage in multi-year contracts from both traditional and renewable generators, and conduct day-ahead and real-time trading to serve our customers’ electricity demands.
The Senior Specialist will be in the Energy Contract Settlements group. The successful candidate will perform accurate and timely monthly payments and provide required analytics support over a portfolio of utility owned generation, power purchase agreements, and demand response resources.
The position is part of a team of 10 Settlement Analysts reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Contract Settlements. The successful candidate will have strong analytic, problem-solving, and project management skills and be detail oriented.
This position is in the Energy Procurement and Management organization which is contributing to SCE’s goal to be recognized by our industry as a high performance organization.
Plans all aspects of analyses, presentations, and implementation strategies for a complete analysis, often of moderate significance and/or risk to the Company.
Interprets contract payment terms into formula equivalents
Understands ISO markets and correlations to SCE’s power contract payments
Knowledgeable about sources of data and resources available to integrate and present information regarding contract payments.
Utilizes existing or devises new, innovative models and methodologies to correlate large volumes of data into contract payments.
Perform queries to formulate algorithms and macros created by others.
Understands system capabilities and communicates contract settlements business knowledge.
Establishes recommendations and conclusions based on analysis on large volumes of data.
Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Five (5) or more years of experience in functions related to contract settlements, contract management, electricity trading or marketing and/or project management, or analysis of business issues, and accounting experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare reports and present technical information to a wide audience, in non-technical language.
Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to effectively multi-task and enthusiastically engage in continuous learning.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience with contract settlements, CAISO electricity markets including settlements experience with understanding of market design and charge codes, electricity markets including energy, capacity, emissions, and/or Master Agreements (WSPP, EEI, NAESB, ISDA, Broker)
Experience analyzing complex financial, regulatory, and/or business problems.
Experience and ability to apply project management principles, team lead projects, working with cross-functional teams, and driving projects to completion with sensitivity to competing business needs and resources.
Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building.
Five (5) or more years of experience with financial and/or quantitative analyses.
Five (5) or more years of experience working with cross-functional teams.
