Become a Senior Manager of Waste, Hazardous Materials & Drinking Water at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, You will lead a team of highly skilled environmental professionals, providing strategic direction and professional development while focusing on safety, resource allocation, and budget management for the assigned section. You'll be responsible for the Waste, Hazardous Materials, and Drinking Water Section, designing and implementing compliance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company polices using our Environmental Management System approach to risk and compliance management. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Lead, direct, and provide strategic compliance efforts, implementation of internal controls with regards to RCRA and Non-RCRA hazardous waste, hazardous materials and the requirements related to EPCRA, Clean Water Act, TSCA, Oil Spill Response, Clean Air Act and the requirements under the Risk Management Program, DOT, Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act.

  • Interact with peers and operational partners to understand environmental risks and priorities to ensure compliance programs proactively meet operational needs.

  • Share knowledge and messaging across the Department management, Senior and Executive Leaders across the Organization.

  • Lead agency negotiations and represent the company across organizational compliance objectives. Knowledgeable of the regulatory and rule making processes with relevant agencies.

  • Manage the development of those programs and their training curricula to ensure the implementation and application of those compliance controls and activities enterprise wide.

The essentials

  • Five or more years of experience managing or supervising an organization unit with the ability to lead a staff of technical professionals.

  • Five or more years of experience managing projects subject to environmental compliance regulations such as RCRA, Non RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, EPCRA, CEQA, FERC, and NEPA, as well as projects under the jurisdiction of the California Public Utilities Commission.

  • Experience in regulatory analysis, permitting, and/or environmental compliance.

The preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental sciences or related technical field.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience delivering technical presentations to senior company leaders.

  • Experience as an inclusive, forward-thinking leader who mentors and motivates a team.

  • Experience working with technical and non-technical audiences, including peers, clients, management, and contractors to implement solutions to environmental challenges.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
