You’ll be working independently on projects, leading UX functions and acting as the UX expert on those teams. Design stuff you will be doing …

  • Designing quality user experiences and tools that meet or exceed the goals of our business Collaborator, and eventually, our energy customers.

  • Serving as the UX subject matter expert and the voice of the users on small to large product teams

  • Communicating conceptual ideas, design rationale and the specifics of the user-centered design process to product teams, clients, and senior decision makers through wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and detailed flow diagrams.

  • Leading discussions with the development team, product managers, and collaborator to communicate experiences and design.

  • Participating in agile product development as an integrated part of a scrum team and contributing to Agile user stories.

  • Visual design, including periodically designing iconography and other assets.

  • Helping the team to develop, maintain, and document UX design standards, including design systems.

Research stuff you will be doing …

  • Planning and leading workshops to gather requirements to evolve designs.

  • Interviewing users to understand current processes, pain points, and opportunities.

  • Designing and conducting both informal and formal user testing, either collaborating with other designers, or independently.

  • Performing on-site observation and testing in SCE’s service territory.

The essentials

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience solving complex UX problems

  • Four (4) or more years of experience communicating the UX to stakeholders and developers via flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.

  • Experience working with multi-functional teams to achieve quality user experience.

  • Experience leading discussions with the development team, product managers, and stakeholders to communicate UX and design.

  • Experience leading UX discovery activities to gain an understanding of project requirements.

  • Experience designing and facilitating usability testing.

  • Skilled in standard design & wireframing tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma) and simple prototyping tools (e.g. Invision, Figma, Sketch)

  • Experience creating high-level artifacts (journey maps, experience maps, personas, flow diagrams, etc.)

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or related major.

  • Experience working in emerging user technologies like AR/VR, Google Glass, etc.

  • Axure prototyping (we use prototypes to communicate design and for user testing).

  • Setting up design systems, particularly Invision Design System Manager (DSM)

  • Experience leading and coordinating other UX designers on projects.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs
